Children’s church is offered the first through third Sunday at our church. This children’s church is held during our regular 11a.m. church service. The children stay in the sanctuary during the announcements, tithes and offering and choir anthem. They then disperse to the back of the church for a bible lesson on their learning level. These lessons include music, crafts, singing, devotion and prayer. Children’s sermonette is held every fourth Sunday. Sermonette is held at the front of the sanctuary during regular worship service. The children come upfront for this message. The fifth Sunday, children sit with their parents in the sanctuary and learn the order of worship for our church.
Nursery is available during the 11a.m. church service for ages infant-pre kindergarten. We have a beautiful nursery and toys for all ages.
Vacation Bible School is offered during the summer. This event allows students to learn more about God and how they can serve their church and community. Vacation Bible School is for kids of all ages. Teens even participate and shadow the younger children, bake goodies for our shut-ins and sick families and clean the church cemetery.
Also during the summer, we offer a Lego club. During Lego club children listen to a bible story and then build Lego structures related to the story. Children then listen as others share their structure and relate it to what they have learned. Time usually allows for free building time which every child looks forward too.
In many United Methodist congregations, preparation for confirmation begins when youth enter their middle school years. The middle school years are when young people begin to move from concrete thinking to abstract thinking and are when many people begin to make lifelong faith decisions. During these middle school years youth are seeking a sense of belonging. Belonging to the community of faith is an appropriate response to that developmental task. Pastor Tim is offering a class leading to the ritual of confirmation for those who choose to receive it and are deemed ready to do so by their pastor. Thanks, Pastor Tim!
